Former First Lady Melania Trump emphasized the significance of unifying the nation and ensuring that “equality is the everyday experience of every American” in an interview with Fox News Digital. She believes that individual freedom provides a unifying set of principles and ultimately establishes the American way.

Trump is expected to headline an event hosted by the Log Cabin Republicans, a pro-LGBT group, at Mar-a-Lago. The event focuses on the group’s “Road to Victory” initiative, which is aimed at encouraging voter turnout among gay voters in swing states.

“We must unite in our effort to establish a society where equality is the everyday experience of every American,” the former first lady told Fox News Digital. “Individual freedom provides a unifying set of principles, and ultimately establishes our American way.”

“Together, we must nourish and safeguard the seeds of liberty,” she continued. “Because, when successful, America blossoms into a magnificent place where everyone can practice their beliefs, share new ideas, and express individualism — this is when we are our best.”

She is working alongside former Ambassador Ric Grenell for the event. Grenell, who served as the ambassador to Germany and acting director of national intelligence during the Trump administration, was the first openly gay member of the presidential Cabinet in U.S. history.

Grenell commented on the progress of the Republican Party’s acceptance of gay conservatives, noting that there are over 80 Log Cabin chapters across the country that have seen a significant increase in membership. He also believes that gays and lesbians are no longer reflexively leftist and that they have incredible liberties in America.

Melania Trump and Ric Grenell both believe that the equality fight in America is largely over, and that the focus should now be on the 69 countries around the world that criminalize gays.

The former First Lady also emphasized the importance of the Log Cabin Republicans’ mission, which she described as being “rooted in respect.” This central value allows people to thrive and exist together in a world where all are honored and celebrated.
