On The Daily Beast’s podcast, The New Abnormal, reporter Zach Petrizzo discussed a People magazine article titled “Kari Lake Appears at Mar-a-Lago More than Melania Trump and ‘Practically Lives’ In A Suite.” According to Petrizzo, such headlines bother the former first lady, and stories specifically about Melania tend to be scrutinized as Trump has to see them. Petrizzo explained that Melania and Trump often have dinner together, and she and her team are very aware of headlines. The report about Lake spending significant time at Mar-a-Lago did not sit well with Melania.
“Kari Lake Appears at Mar-a-Lago More than Melania Trump and ‘Practically Lives’ In A Suite” was something that really “ticks off” the former first lady. “Those type of headlines–Trump, of course, has printed out story after story, he runs through a stack of papers or whatever have you– typically many of these type of stories will go to the waste bin, but stories about Melania Trump, I mean, really get kind of scrutinized because he has to see her.”
This development may not bode well for Lake’s aspirations, as whoever Trump chooses as his running mate will likely need Melania’s approval. Trump himself has previously expressed his belief that his voter base does not care much about his choice for vice president. However, it appears that Melania is not willing to tolerate any headlines that allude to an affair, given that she already has to navigate her husband’s legal troubles regarding the alleged Stormy Daniels affair and hush-money indictment.
