Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje were hospitalized following their gruesome lightweight encounter at UFC 268. Gaethje secured a decision victory over his American rival Chandler in a fiery contest on the undercard in New York. Gaethje was seen running for the ambulance in which Chandler was in while the main event between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington was getting underway. Both men initially refused to receive any medical treatment after being offered a stretcher and crutches which were quickly taken away.
The pair had also skipped post-fight media duties after their embrace in the octagon and Gaethje was seen asking after the condition of his opponent backstage. They were also compelled to have medical treatment after such a spectacular kickstart the pay-per-view card.
Although the fight was a real back-and-forth affair with Chandler also stiffening the legs of his opponent early, and the exchanges led to Gaethje being taken to the scorecards for the first time in his career. Chandler was then restricted to his seventh professional defeat.
