Miesha Tate Reveals Why She Dumped UFC Fighter

Miesha Tate will be making her return to the UFC octogen tomorrow against Marion Reneau at UFC on ESPN: Makhachev vs Moises. She revealed this past spring that she had signed a six-fight deal with the UFC which effectively ended the retirement she went into in December of 2016 after losing to Raquel Pennington at UFC 205. Miesha Tate’s one-time rival recently stunned fans with tragic news

Ahead of her matchup against Reneau, Tate sat down with Yahoo Sports. Here, she revealed how retirement and the pandemic made her re-analyze many things out of her life, including her personal life which was a factor in why her relationship with former UFC star Bryan Caraway ended.

“It was a forced slowdown and when I had to slow down, I had to re-analyze, ‘What do I really want out of my life?’ and ‘What are the most important things in my life? When I took this break from this sport and readjusted my personal life, I got used to asking myself these questions. ‘What do I want out of life? What’s important to me in life? How do I get where I want to go?’ And I’d go and reassess and I’d ask myself those questions.

Tate continued: “It just became clear to me that I wanted to fight again. Essentially, that was the answer that kept coming back to me. It was consistent and it never went away. It never changed. So I said, ‘I know what this means, then.’ Destiny was calling and I had to answer.”
