Mike Tyson, the heavyweight boxing legend known for his fearlessness in the ring, has expressed unease about facing current undefeated fighter David Benavidez. Benavidez has won all 26 of his fights, with 23 knockouts, and has been a two-time champion in the super middleweight division.
Fans regard him as the biggest threat to Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez’s undisputed status in the division, and he is pushing for a fight with the pound-for-pound star. Tyson spoke to ES News and praised Benavidez, nicknamed ‘The Mexican Monster’, and admitted he would be afraid to face him in the ring. Tyson is also predicting that Benavidez will beat Caleb Plant in his upcoming fight on March 25, citing the Mexican’s attitude as a key attribute.
He’s so underrated but so over-polarising. I’d be afraid to fight him, too, if I was in that division. No one even has a chance against him, it appears to be. I’m talking from facts.”
Benavidez [beats Plant.] He could beat everybody. My money’s with Benavidez until he gets beat, and then if he gets beat I’m still with him.
It’s his attitude. He was a little heavy fat kid, and he wanted to prove himself to the world. The greatest fighters in the world are the most insecure fighters.”
“I think he beats everybody he gets in the ring with, so I don’t have to say nobody’s name or anything.”
