Mixed Match Challenge: Asuka and Miz get to the finals

The team of Miz and Asuka faced off against Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss in last night’s episode of the Mixed Match Challenge, yet again putting the Empress’s undefeated streak in jeopardy.

The storyline for “Awe-Ska” throughout the tournament has been trying to keep Asuka’s undefeated streak intact. Asuka could often be seen on the apron pitching a fit if the Miz was ever in trouble in the ring. Her biggest fear almost came to life last night, as the Miz was no match whatsoever for Braun Strowman.

The match began with the heels of both teams afraid to enter the match. Alexa would tag Braun in, Miz would tag Asuka in, which was repeated for about three minutes. However, Miz made a bit of an error when he decided to chastise Bliss for not acting like a “real champion,” which allowed the Monster Among Men to hit him with a running dropkick.

From then on, the Miz did his best to tag in Asuka whenever he could, and the #1 Contender for the Smackdown Women’s Championship had no problem with that. Whenever Asuka and Bliss locked up, Bliss got a good amount of offense in, with the momentum shifting back and forth between the two.

WWE has teased a romance between Braun and Alexa since they were paired up for the tournament, and we were teased with a kiss between the Goddess and the Monster this week. However, just like their last match, they were never able to lock lips. Bliss would try to kiss Strowman again later on, but the Miz tried to attack him from behind.

Bliss and Asuka handled most of the in-ring action, while Strowman did his best to try to get a hold of the Miz. There was a point where the Miz tried to distract Bliss, which angered Strowman, causing him to force the Miz through the barricade.

However, while the Miz was laid out, Asuka countered Bliss’s DDT into the Asuka Lock, getting the submission victory. It seems like Asuka and Miz are heading to the finals to take on Charlotte Flair and Bobby Roode. That is, of course, if the Robe Warriors can defeat Finn Balor and Sasha Banks, who were voted back into the Mixed Match Challenge by the WWE Universe.

For those of you upset about the ruined romance between Bliss and Strowman, you may not have too much to worry about, as the two later tried to lock lips backstage, before a fan interrupted them.

If you haven’t been keeping up with the Mixed Match Challenge, it has been a pretty interesting tournament. While it’s not something that’s discussed during Raw or Smackdown, it has been chock full of entertaining matches and promos. If you can find time to check out the tournament, I highly recommend it.
