MJF responds to teaming up with Shawn Spears at AEW Fight for the Fallen

AEW Fight for the Fallen

At AEW Fyter Fest, Shawn Spears delivered a vicious chair shot to the head of the Executive VP, Cody Rhodes. It was a pretty shocking moment, leaving many quite upset.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman, one of Cody’s closest friends in AEW, was one of the first men to rush the ring, hoping to give any assistance he could. We even saw him confront Spears following the incident on the latest Road to Fight for the Fallen on AEW’s official YouTube page. After the event, he was interviewed backstage by reporters, and when asked about the situation, said, “f*** Shawn Spears,” calling him a scumbag. And while he still has unfinished business with Hangman Page, he would love to get his hands on Spears.

Earlier today, though, it was revealed that MJF would indeed be in the ring with him at AEW’s Fight for the Fallen. However, it’ll be in a six-man tag team match, where he’ll be teaming with the man that tried to cave Cody’s skull in.

Needless to say, MJF was a little upset about this decision, one which he apparently wasn’t aware of until it was already made. He’ll join Spears and Sammy Guevara as they take on Jimmy Havoc, Darby Allin, and Joey Janela.

See, that part makes sense, AEW has less definition between heel and face, and I’m okay with that… but as you said, even then, the decision makes no sense.

I think part of the problem is so far it has been hard to tell if Cody is a heel or a face as he seems to flip flop during the events, so having MJF stand up for him if Cody is a face, makes no sense. If Cody is a heel, then it still makes no sense to team his friend with the guy who attacked him.

I think until the weekly show airs, it will be a bit of a mess angle wise.

I legitimately don’t understand this decision.

Storyline wise, Cody, Kenny, and The Bucks are all friends, and they are the ones booking the company.
Why would they book Cody’s friend, MJF, to team with the guy who brutally attacked Cody? More importantly, why would Spears even show up for a match where it’s super obvious he’s being set up for revenge?

This is the kind of booking we’d all be attacking WWE for, AEW shouldn’t get a free pass just because they’re new and cool.
