MMA fighter Mauro Chaulet, 36 was shot dead as confirmed by Rádio Guaíba. It took place after a disagreement with a military police officer at the Auma Bar, in the Floresta neighborhood, in the north of Porto Alegre. Report noted that in addition to the athlete, his companion and the soldier were also shot, but survived.
According to the incident report, the incident took place around midnight, with the soldier outside working hours. During the disagreement, still according to the record, the fighter managed to get hold of the policeman’s gun and fire a shot, hitting the soldier in the groin area. Taken to the Hospital de Pronto Socorro, the officer underwent surgery and is not at risk of death.
The document also reports that, after being called by regulars of the establishment, a garrison tried to approach Chaulet as he was leaving the place, in a Mercedes-Benz C 250. The athlete, who had a history of bodily injury, criminal organization and use of false documents, could not resist the injuries and died at the scene. His companion, with records for reception, bodily injury, forgery of documents, embezzlement and threat, suffered two shots in the abdomen. She underwent surgery at the HPS, where she is recovering in stable health.
Witness alleges another version of what happened
According to the anonymous report of a nightclub goer, the confusion occurred after Chaulet’s companion had a disagreement with a woman who accompanied the soldier. Also according to the version, the policeman shot himself in the leg when the fighter tried to disarm him.
