More details on WWE backing out from announced Asuka vs. Becky Lynch match

We noted before how WWE announced Asuka vs. Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship but the company later backed out from their decision.

Dave Meltzer of the wrestling observer talked about these changes recently and revealed some behind the scenes details on the time when the match was announced.

According to him, the company originally had this match planned for the show and they were going to announce it on SmackDown last week, but Vince McMahon decided against it after his appearance at Raw:

“Originally, the match [Asuka vs. Lynch] was happening, but then Vince decided that he wanted to revamp the card […] when they taped Main Event it was gonna air later in the week, [and] at that time, the plan was to announce the match with Asuka and Becky Lynch on Tuesday’s SmackDown”

Later, Meltzer also talked about the current situation and claimed that while this match can still take place, it’s not locked now and the officials are scheduled to have a number of meetings this week to “come up with a Rumble card.”
