Murphy ‘Played Role’ In Major WWE Firing?

So many releases are going on in WWE right now and we would hate to see Buddy Murphy joining the train on the way out of WWE. Fortunately, this isn’t the case, but Buddy could’ve saved another superstar from getting the boot. Samoa Joe & Mickie James Sign With Top Promotion.

On FightfulSelect.com we got some word on not only Buddy Murphy, but Wesley Blake and Kalisto as well. We know that Blake is no longer with the company, but it looks like WWE had a last ditch effort for Blake which would see him reuniting with Buddy Murphy.

Fightful: “There were pitches from WWE creative to reunite Wesley Blake with Buddy Murphy following the release of Steve Maclin (Cutler). Throughout 2020, Blake and Maclin both worked with WWE creative to come up with additional ideas to get them back on TV.

Kalisto was also held onto for a little longer than WWE wanted, but Kalisto did prove the company wrong one last time before WWE made headway on his recent release.

Fightful: “Kalisto gained significant praise for getting in better shape while he was off. Many we spoke to within WWE said that in 2019 he’d openly discussed the possibility of free agency, and his deal would have been up in the summer of 2020. However, WWE re-signed him to a new deal around January 2020, and later that year he’d expressed his desire to be a singles star.”
