Name change coming for WWE Superstar

Big Cass

Big Cass has been out of action since tearing his ACL back in August. Since then, Cass has been rehabbing and working on his return to Monday Night Raw. However, with his former partner, Enzo Amore, being ousted from the company, it seems that the WWE might be looking to separate the two.

Amore and Cass were one of the most popular tag teams in NXT and the WWE during their time together, and Cass’s turn on Amore last summer didn’t get too much time to settle before his injury.

In NXT, before Amore came back from injury, Big Cass was known as Colin Cassady, and it looks like the WWE will be going back to that name going forward. WWE recently filed to trademark the name. Cassady will be back shortly, as he was expected to miss 9 months of action.

Cassady has a lot of work ahead of him, as his two former partners, Amore and Carmella, both captured titles before he could.

I can see why they would do this. They obviously feel they need to distance him from the taint of Amore.
While he has used the name before, while associated with Amore, it was to a smaller audience. And certainly not in the mainstream medias eye.

I think the trademark is on “Colin Cassady”, not just the last name

Not sure how trademark works but their is a rapper called “Cassidy” but this guy was known as “Cassady” in wrestling? The only difference is the vowel in the name “i” and “a” but when you say the word, it’s exactly the same so how can you trademark this if it sounds the same?
