Neville Comments On Wrestling Chris Jericho At The Beast In The East Special

WWE star Neville recently spoke with The Mirror about his match with Chris Jericho at the Beast in the East special and if he’s ever suffered a major injury. Here are the highlights.

On the independent scene you competed in Japan, where you returned in August for The Beast in the East special event. You went up against Chris Jericho in a losing effort in the opening match. It had a slow build and then burst into life, and received a great reception from the Japanese fans.

Well you know Chris is somebody who I have followed a similar career path to, in the sense that he did the indies and then he got attention in Japan, and landed a lot of work there before WWE. When I realised that was who I would be wrestling in Japan I was super stoked, because I thought me and Chris would be on the same page. We’re both very aware and used to the style there and we did get to work that kind of traditional Japanese style before it did breakdown into more of a WWE style. It was such a great night for me and such a great match to be a part of. I’ve got such cool memories from that trip. It felt like a natural chemistry we had and it was the right place and right time.

Have you ever suffered a major injury?

I’ve been very fortunate with injuries, I’ve had the odd broken bone in my back, when I was starting out here in England, I cracked a few ribs and I’ve broken a bone in my hand. It’s always kind of been things I’ve been able to work through, touch wood I’ve never had anything that’s put me out for a long period of time. I’m riding a wave of good luck! I think it’s inevitable in this business at some point you’ll have an injury that takes you out for a few months but up to this point, 11 years I’ve been doing this now, I’ve been very fortunate. Our schedule is intense, we do this for five nights a week, so injuries can happen very easily with the demands of the job. It’s just the nature of what we do and sports in general.
