New Details Revealed on EA’s New MMA Video Game, Randy Couture’s Involvement

– Yesterday at the Marriott Hotel in San Jose, EA held a press conference for their new upcoming MMA game. Also participating in the press conference was former UFC Heavyweight Champion and Light Heavyweight Champion, Randy Couture. EA officially announced that Randy will be appearing in the game. In addition, Randy Couture has signed an exclusive deal in that the only MMA video games he will be appearing in will be with EA at the moment.

From the press conference, the game is still in early stages of development. EA is adamant that even though UFC has a successful league in the sport, the UFC is not the entire sport, and there is room for the EA MMA game to succeed. EA also said it was not yet decided if the fights will take place in a ring or cage, but the implication is that it could feature both to reflect how the sport is executed worldwide. EA also said they have not had any trouble signing fighters from any “outside” influences after UFC’s recent declaration that any fighter who signs up for this game will be black listed from going to the UFC.

The video game will also feature such MMA fighters as Fedor Emelianenko, Jay Hieron, Renato “Babalu” Sobral, Gegard Mousas, Cung Le, and Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal.
