Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler share health updates

Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler were set to appear for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match on Sunday.

They were scheduled to defend their title at at Clash of Champions against Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott of Riott Squad, after winning it from the previous Champions Sasha Banks and Bayley at WWE Payback.

However, it was reported before the PPV on Sunday that the match was called off due to medical reasons. WWE provided no further information, which led many fans to assume if it was COVID-19 related. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reported that might be the case as well.

But the two Champions took to Twitter later on to clear the air on the matter.

Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler on match cancellation

Both Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler clarified on Twitter that they were fine and healthy. Baszler even stated in her reply to a fan that the medical non-clearance was not COVID-related, at least in her case.

Jax wrote in her tweet that all was well on her end as well as her tag partner’s.

“Girl….I could not be better 😊 I apologize that the announcement scared some, but all is great and healthy on my end & my tag partner’s end as well (not that I speak for her, but I kind of just did😜)”

Nikki Cross was also not medically cleared to compete at Clash of Champions as per WWE. Jax shared the news on Twitter, calling it a lie.

Nikki Cross was set to fight Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. In her absence, RAW Women’s Champion Asuka rose to the occasion and challenged Bayley.

They had a short-lived fight before Sasha Banks showed up, hitting Bayley with a steel chair from behind and taking revenge on her former best friend and tag team partner for turning on her a few weeks ago.
