Nick Diaz Misses Drug Test, Pulled from Saturday’s Strikeforce Event

– According to Dave Meltzer, the California State Athletic Commission has officially approved Jesse Taylor vs. Jay Hieron for Saturday’s Strikeforce show. Nick Diaz, whose license expired on July 25th, did not show up for his rescheduled drug test yesterday, and the test could not be done in time to get him licensed for Saturday if taken after yesterday.

Neither Diaz or his manager Cesar Gracie have made contact with the state athletic commission since Friday night. With Diaz having a drug failed on his record, the CSAC requires you to pass a test regarding the specific drug in order to get a new license.

Jesse Taylor (13-3) was on season seven of The Ultimate Fighter. He made the finals of the show, but was replaced due to his drunken rampage. He fought at UFC Fight Night 14, losing to CB Dollaway, but has since won seven fights in a row.

During yesterday’s Strikeforce Conference Call, Strikeforce’s Scott Coker said that plane tickets were sent to Diaz, and that he was scheduled to appear in Los Angeles for his test. Many reporters stated that the CSAC was claiming not to be in contact with Diaz, and Coker repeatedly said that the tickets were sent, and that he trusted that Diaz would do the right thing.
