WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella and her fiancé Artem Chigvintsev had started dating in 2019 and got engaged in November that year but made it public in January the next year. A few weeks later, they announced that they were expecting their first child. Matteo, the couple’s first child, was born in July 2020. The fans have been wondering when their wedding would take place. The former Divas Champion has responded to claims that stated that she does not want to marry her fiancé. The former WWE star snubbed the claims and stated the truth behind it during a recent appearance on E! News’ “Daily Pop.”
Nikki Bella reveals the reason behind delaying the wedding
She claimed she wanted to make sure it’s forever before walking down the aisle. She made that statement during a special episode of her and her sister Brie Bella’s podcast, “The Bellas Podcast,” titled “Kill a Rumor.” Nikki, who has been engaged to Artem since 2019, stated on the podcast that she still intends to marry the professional dancer and explained why they are delaying their wedding plans.
“I will be getting married, and I can’t wait. I do me, for me. So that means I’ll marry Artem when I want, for me and Teo and him, for my life. There are also things that Artem and I don’t talk about. Like, financially, we have so much more going on in our lives to think, for Artem and I, for the past two years, of putting our money into a wedding — it’s probably the main reason we’ve hesitated.
And also Artem’s parents. We just never wanted to say to people like, ‘We don’t wanna spend the money on that right now.’ We’re building a home that costs us four to five times more than what we thought, and we want Matteo to have [an] amazing education, so we started to put all of our money in other places, and then we’re like, ‘Do we want to spend all this on a wedding?’”
