NJPW & AEW partnership could become a reality

Harold Meji recently resigned from his position as President & CEO of New Japan Pro Wrestling. With his departure, it seems the doors have been opened for a future partnership between NJPW and All Elite Wrestling.

According to a report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the wrestlers in NJPW were not entirely supportive of Meji’s business sense when it came to professional wrestling. While he was very successful in other businesses, it is very different in professional wrestling.

One NJPW talent was said to have called Meji “an idiot” when it came to understanding professional wrestling. Now it seems a partnership between NJPW and AEW is likely.

“No idea (regarding opening up the business relationship with Meij out),” said one of AEW’s top names. “We want to. But he (Meij) was an idiot when it came to understanding the business. Hopefully things will change now.”

AEW stars such as Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley have permission to work matches in NJPW while working for AEW. Kenny Omega does as well but he has not used the chance yet.

It will be interesting to see when the two companies will form a partnership.
