Chris Jericho is the AEW World Champion, but he is also the Painmaker in NJPW. Jericho has a huge match scheduled for Wrestle Kingdom 14 in January.
Hiroshi Tanahashi will be squaring off against Chris Jericho on night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom next year on January 5th, 2020. It seems if he wins the match, he might be challenging Jericho for the AEW World Title.
He spoke to Tokyo Sports, where he said that Jericho is a champion “over there.” From the quotes translated from Japanese, it seems he refers to AEW as a “forbidden door.”
“Isn’t it the champion over there? If I win and say the other is” one more time, “then you can say” get a belt “. Then the forbidden door will open.”
We wonder if AEW and NJPW could work something out regarding this. If they do, both companies will certainly gain a lot from the partnership as both competitors are two of the best in the pro wrestling world.
