NXT Champion Karrion Kross renounces title due to injury

During the opening segment of the August 26, 2020 edition of WWE NXT on the USA Network, newly crowned NXT Champion Karrion Kross made his way to the ring for the first time as champion, and his last…

For the time being anyway. Though Karrion Kross won the NXT Championship title at NXT TakeOver XXX, it was at the expense of his now torn shoulder. Kross originally hoped that the injury wasn’t as serious as it felt, but following an MRI on Monday, the extent of his injuries was just too severe to allow Kross to defend his title. Therefore, during tonight’s NXT, Kross made his was to the ring accompanied by Scarlett Bourdeux.

Kross started off by stating, “I told you.”

Kross continued on, “Again, and again. That I would become the NXT Champion. And I warned you, that everyone. would. suffer.”

“At TakeOver 30, I kept good on my word, when I RIPPED the title off Keith Lee’s carcass. Like FLESH from BONE! But one should know, when you go to war, you should expect casualties on all sides. My shoulder, separated. I’m in pain, but you know what, I love it. It brings me life.” he states with pride.

“But I’m a realist,” Kross’s tone changes,” and I understand the reality of the situation. There’s no way they’re going to let me defend the championship in this condition, so you know what…”

At this point Scarlett hands Karrion Kross the belt. “On the path, there are obstacles, but for me, the obstacles are the path.” Kross sets down the championship belt on the canvas. “Let this be a warning,” Kross continues, “This changes absolutely nothing. Doomsday is still coming. In the end, everybody pays the toll. And God help the obstacles that will be in my path, tick tock.”
