NXT TakeOver announced for October

WWE announced earlier today that the next NXT TakeOver event would be taking place in just a few weeks. On Sunday, October 4th, WWE will air the latest TakeOver on the WWE Network.

As for now, there’s no tag line or anything for TakeOver. Usually, most TakeOver events are followed by the name of the cities that they take place in, save for WarGames, TakeOver XXX, and a handful of others.

WWE’s official statement stated:

“Mark your calendars! The next edition of NXT TakeOver will come crashing into your home on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 7 ET/4 PT.

The event comes on the heels of an historic NXT TakeOver XXX that saw Damian Priest win a grueling North American Title Ladder Match, Io Shirai valiantly defend her NXT Women’s Title, and Karrion Kross bring Doomsday by capturing the NXT Championship. Since then, Kross’ injury opened the window for Finn Bálor to capture the NXT Title in an epic series of matches involving Adam Cole, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano.

Don’t miss the next NXT TakeOver on Sunday, Oct. 4 on the award-winning WWE Network, and catch NXT tonight at 8/7 C on the USA Network.”

There are only three episodes of NXT between now and TakeOver, so, as Triple H stated on Twitter, the road to the event starts tonight.

Below are the current matches scheduled for tonight’s NXT:

  • Io Shirai vs Shotzi Blackheart
  • NXT Tag Team Title Match: Legado Del Fantasma vs Breezango (c)
  • NXT North American Championship Match: Timothy Thatcher vs Damian Priest (c)
  • Killian Dain & Drake Maverick vs The Undisputed Era
