Original plans for SmackDown 1000 revealed

The WWE found it difficult to fit in a lot of segments in the two-hour time for SmackDown 1000. As noted by PWInsider, the initial plans for the opener was to go with the WWE World Cup qualifier match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Rey Mysterio. The officials, however, opted to go for the Truth TV segment which was slated to take place later in the show.

Moreover, the final segment which saw The Undertaker give a message to the DX ahead of the Crown Jewel was scheduled to last longer. The segment was cut short as the show ran longer than expected. Apart from that, the WWE also cut time from the Mysterio vs Nakamura match, including Mysterio’s entrance.

A planned segment with James Ellsworth was also nixed, who later went on to appear in a WWE YouTube video. PWInsider also claims that Batista arrived late for the show at his hometown. There is no word as of now if his late arrival pushed back the segment with the Evolution.
