Original plans for WrestleMania 35 main event

There is a lot of talk of Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey main eventing WrestleMania this year, but these talks have only picked up pace after Roman Reigns relinquished the Universal title.

In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer talked about the upcoming show and revealed the original plans for the main event of the PPV.

According to Meltzer, before he had to relinquish his championship and go away due to his illness, the former Universal Champion Roman Reigns was slated to be in the main event of the show.

Also, the Dean Ambrose heel turn which happened on the same night was expected to play out differently, and according to reports, the Intercontinental Champion would have turned on Roman Reigns rather than Seth Rollins in order to become a villain.

While Roman’s opponent for the event was not pinned, the belief due to these plans is that Ambrose would have been the one to face the Universal Champion at the show.
