WWE announced Sasha Banks vs. Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women’s Championship for Royal Rumble at this week’s episode of Raw, but it appears that the original plan for the bout were very different.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the original Royal Rumble plans were for Charlotte Flair to face the Raw Women’s Champion, but the officials changed their minds later on.
The reason why they decided to nix this bout, per Meltzer is the fact that they are now considering a triple threat between Charlotte, Rousey and Becky Lynch for the upcoming WrestleMania 35 event.
Though this match is not a lock just yet so it’s possible that the plans might change once again and we might see a different combination of stars battling it out at the Biggest Wrestling Event of the Year.
