The Fiend wrestled Daniel Bryan in a singles match for the Universal Championship at Survivor Series PPV but it appears that the original idea for this match was different.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer recently talked about this bout and revealed that the Miz was the opponent WWE had originally chosen for the Wyatt.
The segment which started the rivalry between Bryan and Wyatt was originally designed to start a feud between the Universal Champion and the A-Lister but the officials ended up nixing these plans.
The Miz was also the original opponent for the Fiend at the upcoming Starrcade show as well but when the company changed the plans for Survivor Series, they seemingly nixed that idea as well.
The Fiend won his match against Daniel Bryan at Survivor Series and he will now be facing Braun Strowman in a steel cage match for the Universal title at the upcoming Starrcade event on December 1.
