Owen Hart had second thoughts about fatal Blue Blazer stunt

Following Bret Hart’s departure to WCW, Owen Hart was left in a difficult position. He refused to do storylines that included cheating on his wife with Debra McMichael. The company then offered him a role as the Blue Blazer and he agreed.

During Dark Side Of The Ring’s season two finale, Jim Ross talked about an interaction he had with Hart prior to the start of Over The Edge.

Jim Ross said that Owen Hart was not at all enthusiastic about that night like he usually was for shows. He talked to Owen about not liking heights and Owen revealed that he did not like them either. Jim Ross went on to talk about the fact that there was no possibility for a stunt double or anything similar and said that there were “little things” that caused him to believe that Owen Hart was very uncertain about the plan.

Hart’s tragic death led to a lot of controversy that still exists today. His wife Martha Hart sued WWE for wrongful death and Vince McMahon sued her back.
