The former WWE star Paige had been struggling with neck issues over the past few years that had put a halt on her in-ring career. She was under a contract with WWE but she recently announced that she’d soon be ending her long run with WWE. She shocked the wrestling world when she announced that she’ll be leaving WWE in July. It was then revealed that WWE didn’t want to re-sign Paige to a new contract. She believes WWE should have made changes to women’s wrestling several years before the Divas Revolution began.
Paige opens up on WWE’s treatment towards female stars
On February 23, 2015, the two-time Divas Champion participated in a 30-second tag team match alongside Emma against The Bella Twins on RAW. Following the show, the hashtag #GiveDivasAChance trended on social media for three days. The former NXT Women’s Champion made an appearance on the latest episode of “The Bellas Podcast” with Brie and Nikki Bella. She did not mince words and lambasted the presentation of women in WWE back in the day:
“You guys got treated like absolute dogs**t,” she said. “I’m like, ‘This cannot happen anymore. This is so outrageous.’ I remember in my family’s documentary they were still filming when I first got over here, I said, ‘I don’t want the women to be viewed as pee breaks anymore,’ because you’re not. Everyone wants to wrestle, everyone wants to be able to put on these matches.”
Paige also recently spoke about Sasha Banks and Naomi who have been involved in a recent controversy of RAW walkout.
