Pat Patterson apparently wanted to introduce ‘Pat Patterson Cup’ for winners the of Royal Rumble

WWE Hall Of Famer, the late great Pat Patterson is touted as the brains behind the concept of the Royal Rumble. He recently passed away and his loss is still felt by the professional wrestling world.

During a recent episode of Sitting Ringside with David Penzar, Bertrand Hebert was invited on the show. He was the co-author of Patterson’s book: “Accepted: How The First Gay Superstar Changed WWE.”

Hebert revealed that Patterson had another idea for the Royal Rumble. He wanted to introduce a Pat Patterson Cup and present it to the Royal Rumble winner, similar to how winners are given the Stanley Cup.

“One of his last ideas he had on the (Royal) Rumble was for them to create the Pat Patterson Cup and give the trophy like the Stanley Cup to the winner. It would hold champagne and have all the winner’s names on it. I think that would be an amazing homage to Pat.”

It is unlikely fans will ever get to see the cup now.
