David Pecker, a key witness, testified that he was the one who warned Donald Trump about potential stories from women, citing Trump’s reputation as a popular bachelor who dated attractive women.

According to the testimony, it was Pecker and Michael Cohen who were concerned about the possibility of women coming forward with stories, while Trump himself was simply planning a campaign run.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow provided an analysis of former President Donald Trump’s demeanor during his appearance in a Manhattan courtroom for his hush money trial, describing him as “annoyed” and “miserable.” Trump is facing more than 30 counts related to a hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, allegedly to cover up an affair. The Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, accused Trump of falsifying business records to conceal money given to Daniels through his disbarred attorney Michael Cohen. Trump has denied any wrongdoing or involvement in the alleged affair.

“IT IS STRIKING TO SEE THE FORMER PRESIDENT, SOMEBODY WHO HAS TRIED TO SORT OF EMBODY THE LUXURY BRAND SITTING IN A ROOM THAT ESSENTIALLY FEELS LIKE A HIGH CEILINGED DMV OFFICE,” SHE SAID.

Maddow commented on the setting, noting the stark contrast between Trump’s public image and the environment of the courtroom, which she described as a “dingy” room resembling a high-ceilinged DMV office. Given Trump’s luxury brand and glamorous reputation, the setting might have felt out of place.

According to Maddow’s observation, Trump appeared “basically inert,” displaying a demeanor that suggested he was “annoyed, resigned, maybe angry.” She highlighted his visible discomfort, noting he seemed “old and tired and mad.” Maddow attributed his apparent frustration to the nature of the trial and the likely disruption to his plans.

Trump, in remarks made outside the courtroom, claimed the trial was politically motivated, referring to it as election interference. He stated that he should be campaigning in Georgia or Florida instead of being in court, indicating that he felt the trial was interfering with his political activities.
