Plans for NXT Women’s Championship after Asuka’s injury


When Asuka forfeited her NXT Women’s championship due to an injury, William Regal announced that he has started negotiating to send her to either Raw or SmackDown Live.

However, the NXT Official did not say anything about the vacated title which led to many speculations about what WWE may possibly be planning for the Championship and now the plans for it has been revealed.

Dave Meltzer revealed on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Officials plan to reward the Championship to the winner of the Mae Young Classic Tournament.

The final of the tournament will take place Live on September 12th following the SmackDown Live episode that day and it will see Shayna Baszler going one on one against Kairi Hojo.

Regarding Asuka, we noted before how WWE has big plans for the former Champion and she could possibly debut at an upcoming PPV after recovering from her injury.
