On this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, following his loss to Lars Sullivan, Shorty G announced that he is done with that name and will return to being Chad Gable.
It seems the change was a long time coming. According to various reports, the idea to change the Shorty G name was in the works for several months.
Many people backstage, including Daniel Bryan, had been pushing the change since July of this year. Bryan was one of his biggest supporters. However, the plans were delayed for various reasons.
As Bryan is a creative writer on Friday Night Smackdown, he has some creative input for what goes on in the show. It was said that there is “some optimism” that Gable will receive an opportunity to prove himself.
