Possible reason WWE booked handicap Intercontinental Championship match at Elimination Chamber

Lio Rush is Bobby Lashley’s mouthpiece and does all the talking necessary. Lashley is currently feuding with Finn Balor and he will be defending his Intercontinental Championship against Finn Balor at Elimination Chamber. However, it will be a handicap match as Lio Rush will also be teaming up with Lashley.

This is certainly a peculiar way of booking a title match. Dave Meltzer discussed the IC Title booking decision during Wrestling Observer Radio where he believes the title will change hands. Here is what he said:

“Doesn’t that suck? I mean like realistically, a handicap match? I don’t mind a handicap match, but the title shouldn’t be at stake in a handicap match.”

“I think the idea is that Finn Balor can pin Lio Rush and win the title and that way they protect Lashley because of maybe the idea that Vince thinks you know, maybe Vince thinks it’s unrealistic for Finn Balor to beat Lashley, but it’s very realistic for him to beat Lio Rush.”

Meltzer then added  “I think it’s completely stupid too,” and he isn’t behind this booking decision whatsoever. We will have to wait and see if Finn does win the IC Title at Elimination Chamber.

I don’t think they are breaking them up. I also don’t see Bobby Lashley losing the IC title yet.

Would be a poor decision, as teaming him with Rush has done more for his WWE career than he could ever manage himself.
Breaking them up this early would be another waste of a good team, just like Rusev Day.

I think Finn will pin Lio Rush and win the title and Lashley will turn on Rush.

Wait.. so Lashley’s ass is going to be competing, and not his manager? I mean Al Snow had his “head” and “shoulders” in the ring, why not a black man’s ass? Sorry Steve Blackman, this isn’t your match, I didn’t mean you.
