Fight Network Signs Deal with Mexico-Based AAA Lucha Libre, Weekly Series Airs on Thursday Nights

Toronto – Fight Network, the world’s premier 24/7 multi-platform channel dedicated to complete coverage of combat sports, and Mexico-based AAA Lucha Libre announced today a deal for a weekly 90-minute program to air across Canada and globally in over 30 countries across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The weekly English-language series entitled AAA: Lucha Libre Worldwide premiered on Cinco de Mayo, May 5 at 10 p.m. ET. The weekly episodic program will debut on Thursday nights in the same timeslot every week.

Since 1992, AAA has featured cutting edge, high-flying professional wrestling action and spectacular rivalries. Presenting hundreds of events annually, AAA is one of the hottest Latin sports media brands with a growing global presence. The talent-rich roster includes Rey Mysterio Jr., Fenix, Pentagon Jr., Taya and Dr. Wagner Jr., as well as routinely featuring international stars from other organizations.

“The fans have spoken, so AAA is finally coming to Fight Network,” said Chad Midgley, VP of Fight Network. “From Rey Mysterio Jr. to Eddie Guerrero, some of the best talent to ever grace a professional wrestling ring have come up through the AAA ranks in Mexico. The organization is rooted in tradition and we’re excited to bring viewers a weekly product with excellent production value and world-class talent, the latest addition to our extensive block of professional wrestling content. Blending traditional Lucha Libre with modern style and showmanship, viewers who compare AAA’s product to other properties on the market will quickly realize why the organization has set itself apart as an emerging global powerhouse in the industry.”

“Our partnership with Fight Network enables us to take the AAA experience beyond Mexico to Canada in a way that leverages the legacy of one of the most popular entertainment experiences in Latin America. We cannot be more excited about starting this new venture with Fight Network,” said AAA General Manager Joaquín Roldán.
