According to NY Post, Jacob Chansley, also known as the “QAnon Shaman,” gained notoriety for his involvement in the January 6, 2021 riots at the US Capitol. In a recent exclusive interview with The Post, Chansley clarified his stance on former President Donald Trump and Twitter CEO Elon Musk.
Chansley expressed his support for Trump, particularly for his actions addressing issues like human trafficking, slavery, China, and ending the wars in the Middle East. However, he made it clear that he is not a blind “Trump fanboy” and disagreed with some of Trump’s decisions, including certain bad appointments made during his first term.
After being released from prison in March, Chansley garnered attention when new footage emerged showing a police officer walking alongside him during the Capitol riots. Some supporters used this footage as evidence to suggest that his role in the riots was exaggerated. Elon Musk tweeted “Free Jacob Chansley” in March after the footage was aired, but Chansley expressed disappointment that Musk never reached out to him or his lawyer after his release, despite offering to pay his legal fees.
Chansley is now working as an executive assistant for a filmmaker while running a shamanic consultancy. He acknowledged that some of the rioters on January 6 deserved to be criminally charged, particularly those who assaulted police officers or vandalized the Capitol. Reflecting on the chaos of that day, he regretted not doing more to prevent the spiraling violence at the time.
