Randy Orton reportedly openly discussing his willingness to talk to AEW

As reported earlier via Wrestle Votes, All Elite Wrestling had apparently made an ”outstanding” offer to a current ”big time” WWE superstar.  The report went on to say that the offer itself is said to be “almost too good to turn down”. However, the name of the wrestler was not revealed.

According to a new report from Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful‘s Post-SmackDown LIVE show, he said that he asked around and he was informed that the ”big time” WWE superstar in question is none other than Randy Orton.

Sean also added that he doesn’t know if AEW offered Randy a contract or not, but when he reached out to AEW, they said that they were not tampering with any WWE Talent. Here is what he said regarding Orton’s potential interest in AEW:

”Now they did not reveal the name and I know who the name is. Now before I get into this, I am not saying that this person was offered a AEW deal. I’m not saying that happened because I don’t if that happened. In fact, I asked people in AEW about this and I was told, “We are not tampering. We are not doing that. Our approach is fresh and independent is the goal for a majority of our recruitment. What you’re likely seeing is a particular agent trying to leverage more money out of WWE by possibly planting shit like this.”

“What I was told this afternoon, was that Randy Orton has been openly discussing his willingness to speak with All Elite Wrestling.“

We will provide you with updates as we get to know more about Randy Orton.

You are such a dumb mark.

  • Jeremy

If you thought that was great, you’re a moron.

I do agree to a certain extent CC. I do believe that it was a great show, but I think it’s more of it being a fresh company and the fact that everybody knows it’ll do better than Impact/TNA But this article is dumb, constantly contradicts itself.

  • Kristopher Robinson

No way. Not that Orton isnt a great talent and he does have a relationship with cody, but with Ortons history and his non-leadership role backstage, I highly doubt it. I believe AEW is smart enough not to pull a WCW. They’re gonna go after guys like; Revival, The Club, Ziggler, Balor, etc. I really dont think they’ll go with guys that they know will be dramatic and cause drama with their “status” and “experience”, because that’ll piss off alot of the younger talent. It’ll also completely change direction of what AEW is trying to build; being new and different. And offering a guy like Orton, that high of money, would be a mistake.

I disagree with that last sentence. That show was great and certainly set the wrestling world on fire, which is why so many people are obsessed with AEW to the point of acting like it is already serious competition to WWE when they have not even started yet.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

It starting to get more and more annoying which AEW don’t really want. It not like there first show really set the world on fire.

This story seems to be all over the place. First it says that AEW have offered a contract to a major star. Then Sapp says it is Orton.
He then says he does not know if he was offered a contract, totally conflicting the story that AEW has offered a huge contract to Orton (he is the one saying this story relates to Orton, so why is it offered a contract one minute, not sure if offered the next?)
Then he says that AEW says they have approached nobody from WWE.

Then at the end it is just Orton discussing his willingness to speak with AEW.

This just comes across as once again marks for AEW making stuff up to try to bolster the promotion.

  • Soulshroude

Normally I would be against it, but after certain “contracts” expire from the WWE… and AEW was in full motion, I expect a few “top tier” stars like Orton to jump ship for a minute. Regardless whether or not their a “shoe in” for the hall of fame.

  • BROKENMatt_Hardy

Star power is 1 thing, but do not put a leech on your payroll.

  • StoneColdBeckyLynch

I want AEW to be around so I can get away from these over pushed/lazy relics of the past. Do not sign Lesnar or Orton you dummies. They are veterans who aren’t locker room leaders and don’t care about giving back. All they do is take. Please hire someone who actually wants to come to work and help the company grow.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

You know that is a big time lie.
