Randy Orton reveals his promos are no longer scripted

Randy Orton mentioned in the past how promos did not matter to him as much as telling a story in the squared circle. However, it seems he has a new-found interest in cutting promos, as is evident in his feud with Edge.

Orton spoke to Inside The Ropes, where he went into detail regarding his promos in WWE. He is able to express himself freely and found his footing. While the majority of WWE Superstars have heavily scripted promos, Orton revealed that Vince McMahon is “very lenient” regarding what he says during a promo.

He said: “I’m not scripted at all, really.” He is now able to speak freely and tell a story in the way he wants to. He also admitted that he cut a promo earlier this year and he went about seven minutes over. He revealed that normally Vince McMahon would “slap the sh*t” out of him due to that, but Orton did not suffer any such consequence.

Orton is a veteran in WWE, so it is not surprising he is given more freedom to do what he wants on the microphone. Orton is scheduled to challenge Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam this Sunday.

There is a possibility fans might see Orton win the title at the event, for an eventual match against Edge at WrestleMania next year.
