Randy Orton ‘Ruining’ Match Caused Violent Tirade

Randy Orton and John Cena are two of the biggest Superstars in the history of WWE. Before they rose to superstardom, they had humble beginnings and were part of WWE’s developmental brand Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2002. Jim Cornette was the lead booker of the brand during that time.

Former WWE Superstar Eugene recently spoke to Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast, where he mentioned the time John Cena squared off against Randy Orton in a singles match in the main event of OVW, which was booked by Jim Cornette.

The match lasted a couple of minutes longer than intended, ruining Cornette’s timing of the match and show, and this apparently made Cornette blow a gasket as he proceeded to break windows with a baseball bat.

“One time Cornette tried Cena against Randy in the main event. Counting down 30 seconds, 20 seconds, five, four. They went over like two minutes and 17 seconds, something like that. I remember Cena coming back doing his tape, it was a good match. Like, ‘Yeah, we did really good.’

“Corny [Jim Cornette] is, ‘God damn, two minutes and 17 seconds?’ Gets his baseball bat and starts beating the windows in the building down from us, hitting his car. Randy just left when he came back. Yeah, every now and then it [Cornette’s frustrations] came out.”
