Reason why Daniel Bryan will be working as Special Guest Referee at upcoming SmackDown event

It’s pretty well known that the chances of WWE clearing Daniel Bryan for an in-ring return are pretty stiff. Just recently the company stopped a video of Daniel taking a wrestling bump from getting out, which shows that they are not confident about Bryan’s health

So people were left surprised when the company started advertising the SmackDown General Manager as a special guest referee for a dark match between Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles at the December 26th episode of SmackDown Live.

During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed this move from the company Officials and revealed the reason behind it.

According to the Wrestling Journalist, the reason why WWE put Daniel into the position is to push ticket sales as it has been difficult lately to sell tickets on the markets featuring double events.

Since WWE will be taping Raw from the same arena the night before, Officials are hoping that using Bryan as a special guest referee will help push ticket sales.

Though as we noted before, the rumors that Daniel Bryan has been cleared by the company for an in-ring return are false so he will most likely not be taking any bumps during the show.
