Reason why Rusev was added to US title match at Wrestlemania

It was announced during the latest episode of SmackDown Live that Rusev is added to the announced Triple Threat United States Championship match at WrestleMania.

This announcement made many wonder if this was the plan all along or if the company had different plans for the Bulgarian Brute and altered them later.

In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that this wasn’t the original plan and Rusev was previously pencilled to be part of Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

However, the increased sales of his merchandise in the past few months and the popularity of the Rusev Day chants attributed in the company changing their plans.

Rusev along with Jinder Mahal and Bobby Roode will now challenge the United States Champion Randy Orton for his title at WrestleMania 34 on April 8th.

The comedy is though, on commentary they are trying to push it as being a big deal. Trying to attribute Cesaros current tag team push to it, even though it took him years to get to that. And even trying to claim it elevated Big Shows career.

There has not been a better US champion since Rusev. I believe it is Rusev not Mahul that should have gotten a WWE title push because he is a more believable worthy champion.

While I’m glad that Rusev now has a higher profile match, I think we can now say congratulations Zack Ryder on winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. The Andre match means absolutely nothing if you don’t do anything with the guy who wins. What did the do with Show? That was nothing but a photo op. Corbin? Next to nothing. Mojo Rawley? Nothing. Cesaro? Nothing.
