The WWE Smackville special was scheduled to start with an Intercontinental Championship match as Finn Balor was set to challenge Shinsuke Nakamura for the title. However, Balor was removed from the event and so the match did not happen. Ali would replace Balor in the match.
According to a report by PW Insider, Finn Balor is suffering from an illness, which would explain him being pulled from the event. Sean Ross Sapp provided confirmation that Finn Balor was hospitalized with stomach flu.
