Mauro Ranallo was originally expected to be part of the announce team for the NXT Takeover: XXX event but he was pulled from the show at the last minute.
Corey Graves returned to his old position at the NXT announce desk to fill in for him and the sudden change made a lot of people wonder about the status of Ranallo.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer provided some update on the situation and revealed that Mauro Ranallo had to travel back to British Columbia due to a family situation:
“He had a family situation and he went back to British Columbia, where he’s originally from so that’s what that is. It’s not anything else, that’s the deal. He’s in British Colombia now and pretty much for those reasons he had to miss Saturday’s show.”
Ranallo has previously taken part in the NXT shows from the Performance Center by recording his commentary and sending it over from his home to be integrated into the shows but it wasn’t possible with the Takeover event because it was a live show.
