Reason why SmackDown’s pre-show victory didn’t really count

WWE has been claiming that RAW scored a “clean sweep” over SmackDown at the Survivor Series event even though the Blue Brand managed to get one victory in the kick-off show. The SmackDown team won the 10-team Elimination Match and yet their victory wasn’t included in the final win/loss count for the event.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that major miscommunications amongst the various parties involved were the reason why SmackDown got the victory in that match.

Apparently, Vince McMahon wanted a clean sweep so ultimately the audience had to be told that the kick-off victory didn’t count at all.

In conclusion, SmackDown’s victory in the pre-show could very well be deemed a mistake. However, certain team members of the winning blue team have been very vocal about their disappointment in being neglected like this.

Only time will tell if WWE will address this major goof-up in the upcoming weeks.
