Renee Dupree Talks Calling Spots During Matches with John Cena, If He Knew Cena Would Become the Star He is Today

Renee Dupree was recently interviewed by Hannibal TV to discuss his time working with John Cena during the peak of Cena’s singles career. You can check out some highlights here:

On if he ever worked with Cena before WWE:

“Not really. We worked together in OVW once. Constant professional, if I was the promoter that’s the kind of guy I would want in that spot.”

On if he knew Cena would become the star he is today:

“I could tell yeah, that’s a guy that they could trust, that’s the guy that’s well spoken, he looks like a million — he’s a star. Yeah, I could tell.”

On if Cena was the type to call spots during matches:

“I called everything. I called everything.”

On why people boo Cena now, as opposed to him being loved during their feud:

“Because I was a heel. I can get people to hate me. I’m not trying to do fancy moves, I’m there to build him, that’s my job. That’s what’s kind of lacking in this day and age.”
