Chris Jericho jumped ship to AEW and that caused a lot of change, even within the WWE locker room.
According to a report by Wrestling News, following Jericho signing with AEW, the idea backstage in WWE changed. One superstar apparently said AEW does not have the politics and “walking on eggshells” that WWE has.
With Jericho working in AEW, it also meant that WWE is no longer the only top option in professional wrestling. This might come into play eventually.
One Superstar reportedly said:
“I don’t know how many of us watch AEW but I know a few guys and girls here that watch the show every week. You can’t deny that their shows are great. My friends there say there’s no bullsh*t politics there and no walking on eggshells like WWE’s backstage. Jericho going there made it okay to say ‘yea, WWE is not the end all be all and I’ll be fine if I decide to leave.’ It doesn’t hurt that [AEW’s] schedule is much easier on the body.”
AEW is gaining popularity, even though the latest episode had less than one million viewers due to the World Series. So far, AEW has been dominant in the Wednesday Night Wars.
