Returning superstar replaces Adam Pearce against Roman Reigns

Adam Pearce has turned the tables on the Head of the Table Roman Reigns on WWE SmackDown.

Kevin Owens was away from television ever since Roman Reigns demolished him during his match with Jey Uso. On tonight’s episode of SmackDown, he made a return in the last minute to sign the contract to face Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble. Adam Pearce was originally set to face Roman Reigns after the actions of last week’s SmackDown.

Roman Reigns’ plan to humiliate Adam Pearce backfires

Last week, Roman Reigns made sure that Adam Pearce had to get inside the ring to face him at Royal Rumble. The Tribal Chief and Jey Uso interfered in the Gauntlet Match that was to decide who will face Reigns at the pay-per-view event.

Paul Heyman pulled some strings to get WWE official Adam Pearce into the match.

Later in the night, when it was time for Pearce to get inside the ring, the two of them beat up Shinsuke Nakamura to let Adam Pearce win easily. However, Reigns’ plan to take revenge on Adam Pearce for allowing Kevin Owens his match against Jey Uso backfired.

This week’s episode saw Paul Heyman getting Adam Pearce to sign the contract of the match, first with a ‘No Disqualification’ stipulation. Pearce signed the contract, but Reigns did not. He wanted a ‘Last Man Standing’ stipulation instead, to make things worse for Pearce. At the end of the show, the ‘Big Dog’ came out to the ring for the contract signing, and as expected, was not happy with the fact that Adam Pearce had the audacity to sit in “his” chair.

The signing was over quickly, but Pearce left the ring with a smile saying that he has been waiting for him to sign this contract all night, which confused Reigns. Soon the Tribal Chief discovered that Adam Pearce had an ace up his sleeve all along.

Kevin Owens returns to SmackDown

Walking out of the ring, Adam Pearce started limping on the ramp, and then pretended to suffer from an old knee injury that cropped up just then. Addressing Reigns, Pearce said that as a WWE official, he had the power to choose a replacement for himself.

The music of Kevin Owens hit, and KO walked out amid loud cheers from the virtual crowd to sign the contract as SmackDown went off air.

The look of disgust on Roman Reigns’ face seeing Kevin Owens was evidence enough that Pearce’s plan had worked.
