As seen on this week’s episode of RAW, Rey Mysterio defeated Drew McIntyre, Ricochet and Randy Orton to earn himself a title shot at AJ Styles’ US Title. The Master of the 619 and the Phenomenal One then went at it for the US Title immediately afterward.
For most of the match, both men stood on equal footing, going back and forth with incredible offense. However, Mysterio eventually hit his iconic 619 maneuver on Styles but also took out the referee in the process.
This allowed the OC to interfere and beat down Mysterio but Randy Orton came out and made the save. Orton also delivered an RKO to Styles, allowing Mysterio to cover the Champion for the successful three counts and the title.
Mysterio became the NEW United States Champion by defeating Styles and was joined by his son Dominic in the post-match celebrations.
