Vince McMahon was the CEO of WWE before he had to step down following allegations of sexual misconduct and allegedly having paid $12 million in hush money in a huge scandal. He eventually retired from WWE for good and was replaced by his daughter Stephanie McMahon as the CEO of WWE. His son-in-law Triple H is now the Executive Vice President of Talent and Relations as well. Vince McMahon also lied about quitting WWE recently.
Rey Mysterio spoke to the media at the 2022 Leagues Cup Showcase, where he revealed that many people backstage in WWE are still in denial over the fact that Vince McMahon has really retired.
None of us expected it,” he said. “We still are in denial that he’s no longer there, but it is reality and we have to accept it. So we move on, we keep the show up and running.”
