Rey Mysterio injured in Indie appearance

Rumors have been swirling regarding Rey Mysterio’s possible return to the WWE. After the huge reaction the luchador got at the Royal Rumble, Mysterio and the WWE began working out a new deal.

According to the reports, the WWE wanted Mysterio back on a full-time schedule. However, the former WWE champion only wanted to work on a part-time basis. While they continued to hammer out the details, Mysterio became the rumored opponent for John Cena, whose current storyline revolves around finding his “Road to Wrestlemania.”

It seems we’ll never know if Mysterio was Cena’s intended opponent or not, as the superstar was injured during a match for Northeast Wrestling in Waterbury, Connecticut.

In a match teaming with Flip Gordon to take on Joey Mercury and Caleb Konley, Rey Mysterio seems to have torn his left biceps. Mysterio told Mercury mid-match about the issue, and the wrestlers immediately went to the finish.

It’s possible for Mysterio to make Wrestlemania, with a partial tear having a recovery time of 3-4 weeks. However, if the injury is a bit more serious, it could require surgery, forcing him to stay out of action for 4-6 months.
