Rey Mysterio reportedly scheduled for Wrestlemania title match

Rey Mysterio’s WWE return has been much loved by fans new and old alike. As Wrestlemania is closing in, WWE has been trying to make plans for Rey at the event.

On Barnburner’s No Holds Barred podcast, Giancarlo Aulino said that WWE plan on giving Rey a United States Championship match at Wrestlemania. With the only question being who his opponent will be.

According to Aulino, several sources have mentioned that Rey Mysterio will be in a US title match, but who his opponent (the title holder) will be is not clear. The main three names being discussed are Shinsuke Nakamura holding the title till then, Samoa Joa, or Andrade Cien Almas. Almas would be an especially interesting opponent, as the match would be two Mexicans wrestling for the US title

Whichever two names do not walk into Wrestlemania with the US title will be in the Andre the Giant memorial match, so the Battle Royale should be brimming with star power

So from the looks of it, WWE is ready to give Rey Mysterio his first title run since his return to the company. It will be interesting to see who Rey’s opponent will be in the end. Regardless of the opponent, the match should end up being a great one. Perhaps it could even end up being a multi-man affair.
