Rey recently revealed that Dominik Mysterio had the option of turning down the match against Seth Rollins for WWE SummerSlam. Randy Orton ‘Sending’ WWE Stars To AEW?

Why Rey Mysterio wanted to turn down the match?

Dominik, who is 24, was originally planned to begin his WWE career by training at the company’s Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

But that did not take place and went to feud with Rollins and made his in-ring debut against the former Shield member at SummerSlam.

Rey recently spoke on Ryan Satin’s Out of Character podcast and admitted he thought Dominik was not experienced enough to face Rollins and was not ready. But, Dominik was confident to face Rollins and eventually competed against him.

He said:

“I personally didn’t think he was ready, so I let him make his choice,” Rey Mysterio said. “I said, ‘Dom, this is what they [WWE’s decision-makers] want to happen. Are you good or do you wanna say no?’ He’s like, ‘Nah, dad, I’m ready, I’ll do it.’ So I was like, ‘Woah.’ You can only imagine the level of nerves and stress I had during that time.”

Dominik Mysterio suffered a loss against Rollins in the match which lasted for 22 minutes.

It was widely considered to be one of the best matches at SummerSlam 2020. There was nothing worry for Rey as he put on a great performance against a top star.

Even WWE Chairman Vince McMahon told Dominik after the match that he should be “very, very proud” of himself.
