Rhea Ripley made headlines last month by winning the women’s Royal Rumble match and earning the opportunity to challenge Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania, which will be held at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Ripley’s victory was particularly impressive, as she won the match from the No.1 spot, lasting for a remarkable 1 hour, 1 minute, and 8 seconds before finally eliminating the second entrant, Liv Morgan.
Ripley is determined to avenge her previous defeat to Charlotte, which occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic at WrestleMania 36, where there were no fans in attendance. A win at WrestleMania 38 would make Ripley a grand slam champion in WWE, having already won all the other available gold.
Rey Mysterio, who is a part of the Judgment Day faction alongside Ripley, believes that ‘The Nightmare’ has the potential to compete for men’s titles in WWE, following in the footsteps of the late WWE Hall of Famer Chyna, who is the only woman to have held the Intercontinental Championship.
Mysterio cited Ripley’s impressive feats of strength, including body-slamming the sizable Luke Gallows, as evidence of her ability to compete at the highest level. He expressed his belief that anything is possible for her, including potentially challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship.
Mysterio also expressed his desire to see Ripley hold some of the men’s gold, whether it’s in singles competition or in a mixed tag team match with himself or Damian Priest. He emphasized the need to get some gold on her and showcase her talents to the fullest extent.
“Look at what she’s done,” he told SPORTbible.
“She body slammed Luke Gallows for crying out loud. That’s a big man. And she picked him up like it was nothing and she just slammed him.
“So I think anything is possible for her you know, I think she could go for Roman if she wants. But I think it’d be really cool to see her hold some of the men’s gold, whether it’s singles or if we do a tag team match somehow where it’s mixed matched, and then it’s just whether it’s her and [Damian] Priest or me and Priest or however we want to play it out.
“But we just got to get some gold on her”.
